What documents are required by the learner for the Employer Day?

Any document that proves the learner identity e.g. letter from the Job Centre, passport, or utility bill.

What qualifications will the learner get at the end of the course?

The learners will gain a qualification called the Level 2 Certificate in Warehousing and Storage Principles upon successful completion of the course. Successful learners will receive a Certificate from Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC) for the qualification that they pass.

Qualification Overview

This qualification is aimed at individuals who are interested in working within the logistics sector, in particular within a warehousing environment in job roles such as Warehouse Operative/Packer/Picker/ It covers the underpinning knowledge requirements to be able to store and receive goods appropriately, as well as exploring how to process and dispatch orders. The principles of effective customer service as well as an understanding of key health and safety legislation are also essential elements of this qualification.

The Warehousing Industry is part of a wider logistics sector which employs around 8% of the workforce in England and provides many opportunities for jobs and training in other parts of logistics such as Traffic Office and Purchasing and Supply Chain Management.

How to receive and store goods and materials
reporting procedures, quality checks, dealing with breakages and damages
How to process orders and dispatch goods
handling methods, packing and wrapping, translating orders, stock control
How to deliver effective customer service
customer expectations, understanding the stock range, satisfied customers, employer expectations
Health, safety and security legislation
Health & Safety at Work Act, risk assessment, safe lifting procedures, dealing with emergencies
How to be an effective worker
– team working, effective communication, recognising and resolving conflict situations

Anyone interested in working in the logistics Industry in roles such as:
• Warehouse Assistant
• Warehouse Operative
• Picker
• Packer.

How is the qualification assessed?

The qualification is assessed by compiling a portfolio of evidence that is completed during the course, so there is not homework, no tests and no exams.

Will the learners get a Certificate?

How long does the course last?

Course Duration: 4 working days, usually over a 1 week period. Learners must attend every day in order to gain their qualification.

Course Timings: 9.30 – 17.30 each day (Learners must arrive 15 minutes before the course is due to start)

Course Location: The course will be delivered at the Betaris Training Centre, The Old Accounts Block, Permali Park, 170 Bristol Road, Gloucester, GL1 5SR.

Is there a bus route and parking at the Training Centre?

Access to the Training Centre is available from 9.00am. There is ample free parking on the site and Bristol Road is served by the Number 12 bus route from Gloucester City centre.)

What is the dress code during the Course?

The dress code for the course is smart casual and non-restrictive clothing such as tracksuit and trainers for the Physical Intervention training.

Are food and Drinks provided?

The course is very interactive and breaks will be arranged throughout. Food and beverages are not provided as part of this course, so a packed lunch and drinks are required. There are plenty of shops and snack providers locally in close proximity to the Centre if required. A hot drinks vending machine is available for use (50p) at the Centre.
