What qualifications will the learner get at the end of the course?

The learner will gain three qualifications upon successful completion of examinations:
1. Level 2 Award in Door Supervision
2. Level 2 Award in Security Guarding
3. Certificate in Principles of Providing Security Services

Qualification Overview

Under the Private Security Industry Authority Act 2001, all individuals wishing to work in the private security industry must undertake a recognised qualification before applying for an SIA licence.

The Award in Door Supervision and the Award in Security Guarding have been developed to meet the requirements of the Security Industry Authority (SIA). The qualifications are based on the relevant SIA Specifications for Learning and Qualifications and provide the necessary skills and knowledge for learners who wish to apply for an SIA licence and work as a Door Supervisor or a Security Guard within the private security industry. This course combines three qualifications.

How is the qualification assessed?

The qualifications are assessed by a range of assessment methods including practical assessment and multiple choice examinations

Will the learners get a Certificate?

Successful learners will receive Certificates from Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC) for each qualification that they pass. (Free examination resits are available if required)

How long does the course last?

Course Duration: 10 working days over a 2 week period. Learners must attend every day in order to gain their qualifications.

Course Timings: 9.30 – 17.30 each day (Learners must arrive 15 minutes before the course is due to start)

Course Location: The course will be delivered at the Betaris Training Centre, The Old Accounts Block, Permali Park, 170 Bristol Road, Gloucester, GL1 5SR.

Is there a bus route and parking at the Training Centre?

Access to the Training Centre is available from 9.00am. There is ample free parking on the site and Bristol Road is served by the Number 12 bus route from Gloucester City centre.)

What is the dress code during the Course?

The dress code for the course is smart casual and non-restrictive clothing such as tracksuit and trainers for the Physical Intervention training.

Are food and Drinks provided?

The course is very interactive and breaks will be arranged throughout. Food and beverages are not provided as part of this course, so a packed lunch and drinks are required. There are plenty of shops and snack providers locally in close proximity to the Centre if required. A hot drinks vending machine is available for use (50p) at the Centre.
